VW Tiguan Facelift Will Now Be Launched In June 2021
Due to the spike in Covid-19 cases across the country, Volkswagen has delayed the launch of the five-seater Tiguan facelift to June this year. VW Tiguan was Unveiled in our country on 31st March and was expected to launch in May 2021. The SUV was discontinued back in 2020 as its diesel engine did not comply with the BS6 emission standard. Replacing the 2.0 L diesel engine is the new 2.0 L TSI turbo-petrol engine that generates 190PS and 320Nm. It drives all four wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. Volkswagen’s 4MOTION tech (with ESP-based off-road modes) is designed to help with mild off-roading.

The inside will be similar to that of the previewed model but with some minor changes. It will get a new multi-function leather sport steering wheel, connected car technology, ambient lighting, digital cockpit, touch-based Air Conditioner controls, and a digital instrument cluster. The rest of the features will be carried forward from the pre-facelift model. This includes a 25.4 cm touchscreen infotainment unit, charging interface (Type C, USB charging ports), powered driver’s seat, 3-zone climate control, ventilated leather front seats, a panoramic sunroof, tyre pressure monitoring system, and 6 safety airbags.
As part of the update, the new Volkswagen SUV has got new angular LED headlamps with Volkswagen’s IQ Matrix tech (headlamps with daytime running lights), which dynamically regulates light distribution. They are intelligently controlled and can illuminate the road as brightly as possible without dazzling the other vehicles. The revised front bumper now features slated air intakes and triangle-shaped fog light clusters. The SUV rides on a set of new 18-inch alloy wheels and gets C-shaped continuous LED tail lamps.
The all-new Volkswagen Taigun has been designed and developed specifically for India. The country has a rich and diverse set of people with individual requirements and lifestyles. The design elements of the Taigun cater as much to these requirements, making the carline a superior and robust offering for the Indian customer.”, said Mr. Jozef Kabaň, Head of Volkswagen Design.
The 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan SUV will rival the newly launched Citroen C5 Aircross as well as the top-end variants of the Jeep Compass and Hyundai Tucson. It is expected to be priced from Rs. 28 lakh (ex-showroom).
