Toyota Reveals Land Cruiser Prado 70th Anniversary Edition in Japan

Japanese multinational automotive manufacturer, Toyota Motor Corporation has unveiled the new special edition model of the Land Cruiser Prado SUV in Japan. The new model celebrating the 70 strong years of the Land Cruiser sports utility vehicle.

The current-gen of the Toyota Land Cruiser SUV is reaching the end of its life cycle and will soon be replaced by the new generation model. As the carmaker prepares to introduce the generation change, the special anniversary edition of the last batch of the outgoing Land Cruiser Prado will also help the brand to clear off the remaining units of the current-gen model.

The new limited-edition SUV, Toyota Land Cruiser Prado 70th Anniversary Edition comes with a range of comfort and luxury-oriented features found on the L Package variant accompanied by some cosmetic upgrades to distinguish it from the regular model.

Exterior and Interior Updates

As of exterior updates, the Prado 70th Anniversary Edition gets forward black inserts in the grille, headlight trim, mirror caps, roof rails, fog light surrounds, and rear hatch trim. It rides on black-finished 12-spoke 18-inch wheels.

On the interior side as well the updates are rather subtle. There’s Saddle Tongue light brown shaded leather upholstery that covers the seats, centre console, knee pads, and door panels. It also gets a brushed-finish, silver-shaded piece of trim on the passenger side of the dashboard. That said, there are a few small options to add to the accessories department. Customers can get a 70th Anniversary badge and floor mats with the special edition’s logo.

Colour Options and Powertrain

The SUV has been offered in a range of colour options including Avante-Garde Bronze, Red Mica, Attitude Black Mica, and White Pearl Crystal. Customers are also free to choose from five or seven-seat configurations of the car.

Mechanically, the SUV comes loaded with a 2.8-litre diesel as well as a 2.7-litre petrol engine. For the record, these powertrains are already found on the Toyota Fortuner.

Land Cruiser Prado 70th Anniversary Edition: Price

In the Japanese market, the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado 70th Anniversary Edition starts at ¥4.29 million (approx Rs. 28.4 lakh) for the petrol-powered five-seater model and goes up to ¥5.12 million (approx Rs. 33.8 lakh) for the seven-seater diesel variant.
