Hyundai and Maruti

Besides Maruti Suzuki, the only other brand to make its way to this list was Hyundai. Seven places in the list are taken up by Maruti and the other three by Hyundai. We are still surprised that top-selling newbies like the Kia Sonet, Nissan Magnite and third-gen Hyundai i20 did not find a place in the list. So, here are the best-sold cars in India for March 2021.

Usually, the second spot is taken up by the Alto but this time, Maruti Nexa Baleno has overtaken the entry-level hatchback. It sold 21217 units. It was a mere 497 units short of Swift.

A car that has never failed in the Indian market. WagonR continues to be India’s favourite tallboy hatch because it has multiple things on offer. Maruti’s Wagon-R came in third in the ranking table with 18757 units dispatches. The model still surpassed Alto’s sales figures for March 2021.

Alto slipped to the fourth rank. It registered the least YoY(61%) growth in the Top 10 cars and signifies a decline in popularity of entry-level hatches.

Hyundai’s Creta managed to secure the 5th position in the overall sales in March 2021 and also became the best-selling SUV for March 2021.

Eeco has been a consistent model in the Top 10 list and again fares in the sixth spot in the ranking table.

The subcompact sedan from the Indian automaker also stands among the top 10 selling cars. Dzire’s rise in volumes is a bit surprising. The model which was struggling without a diesel option grew 109% YoY and placed itself in the seventh rank.

Vitara Brezza has managed to overtake the Hyundai Venue. Brezza was ahead of Venue by just 552 units and became the highest-selling Sub-4m Compact SUV of March 2021.

Hyundai Grand i10 was the second model from Hyundai to fare in the Top 10.

Hyundai’s Venue ranked 10th with dispatches of 10772 units and 9% YoY growth.

This list certainly means great news for Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai, we are hoping we will get to see other names here.
