Tata Nexon EV Dark Edition Launch Expected In Coming Months
Tata Motors has filed trademarks for the names ‘Dark’ and ‘Camo’, for its various models in India. Earlier, in August 2019, the company had launched the Tata Harrier Dark edition in India. Given the success of the Harrier Dark Edition, Tata Motors is said to follow the same strategy for other models in its line-up. According to a report, now the second ‘Dark Edition’ offering in the range will most likely be the all-electric Tata Nexon EV. The company is planning to launch the Nexon EV with the ‘Dark Edition’ treatment soon.
We would expect the new Nexon EV Dark Edition model to come with an all-black theme inside out. This dark edition will feature Altas Black exterior color as the Harrier. The EV will get blackened wheels, smoked tail lamps, and matching black exterior elements. In terms of interior, the light beige interiors are likely to be replaced by black seats. The interior of the dark edition will come with a black dashboard and door pads. This variant could feature ‘DARK’ badges similar to the ones in the Harrier.
Variants and Mechanical Specs
Currently, the Nexon EV comes in three variants – XM, XZ+, and XZ+ Lux. The car is priced between Rs 13.99 and 16.56 lakh (ex-showroom India). The homegrown carmaker could offer the Nexon EV Dark only in the higher variants, as did in Harrier. The new Nexon EV Dark Edition model could be priced at a premium of around Rs 20,000 over a similar specified standard variant.
Mechanically, there are no changes expected and this will be just a cosmetic update. The dark edition will remain identical to the standard EV, and it will continue to be offered with a 30.2 kWh battery pack powering an electric motor that churns out 127 BHP and 245 Nm. The car has an ARAI-certified maximum range of 312 km on a single charge (MIDC cycle).
