Skoda Octavia Launch Could Be Delayed Due To Lockdown

Czech Automaker, Skoda showcased the upcoming Octavia premium sedan at the Auto Expo 2020 and had also planned to launch it in April 2020 but accounting for the nationwide lockdown due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic these plans seem to have failed miserably and now Skoda India has decided to postpone the launch to 2021. Skoda has officially announced to launch the new Octavia in the country at the end of April 2021. However, the launch could be further delayed due to rising COVID cases and lockdown in Maharashtra.

As per Skoda India, Director, Zac Hollis “the fourth generation Octavia will be launched in India in 2021. The launch is likely to have been delayed due to the Coronavirus pandemic. We are assessing the situation regarding COVID-19 and will update everyone here when I have news.”

2021 Skoda Octavia Engine Specifications

The new model will be based on Volkswagen’s MQB EVO (Modular Querbaukasten) platform that will give Octavia more cabin space. In addition to the design changes and upgraded interior, the 2021 Skoda Octavia will receive the new 190PS, 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine. Power will be transmitted to the front wheels via a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox. The 2020 Octavia entry-level variant will come with a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. Paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox, the turbo petrol engine produces 147bhp of power and 250Nm of torque.

2021 Skoda Octavia Interior & Exterior

First unveiled in November 2019, the 2021 Skoda Octavia will take major design cues from its elder more premium brother the Skoda Superb. On the face, the sedan will receive a dual-tone interior with a new dashboard design. It comes with a new two-spoke steering wheel with knurled scroll wheels, a prominent butterfly grille with chrome surround and single-piece headlamp with integrated LED DRLs, a new 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Skoda’s SmartLink, and a new 10.25-inch Virtual cockpit digital instrument console. The sedan also gets connected car tech with eSIM functionality. It will ride on 17-inch alloy wheels. For safety and security, the sedan has 8 airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC and traction control.
