Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 flaunt new colour schemes

Royal Enfield has launched the 2021 versions of the Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650 twins in new colourways. The bookings for the 2021 Interceptor 650 and the 2021 Continental GT 650 have opened at all the Royal Enfield showrooms in India, and deliveries will begin shortly. In 650 twins 2021 avatar, the bikemaker introduced new colour schemes, few additional features and a host of personalisation options.

New Colours – 2021 Royal Enfield Interceptor 650

The 2021 Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 is now available in two new Standard (single tone) colour options, namely, Canyon Red and Ventura Blue. It also gets two new Custom (dual tone) colour options – Downtown Drag and Sunset Strip – and an updated ‘chrome’ variant of Mark 2. Of the older colour schemes, the Interceptor 650 will continue to be available in the Orange Crush and Baker Express colours.

The single tone colour options of the 2021 Interceptor 650 get additional features like blacked-out rims and mudguards.

New Colours – 2021 Royal Enfield Continental GT 650

The Continental GT 650, meanwhile, gets two new dual-tone colours – Dux Deluxe and Ventura Storm – and has an updated version of the chrome variant in Mister Clean. Rocker Red and Standard British Racing Green single-tone colour schemes have been added as well.

Vinod K. Dasari, CEO Royal Enfield said “The launch of the 650 Twins marked a new chapter for Royal Enfield and for the mid-sized motorcycle segment. The global success of these motorcycles over the last couple of years has been phenomenal with the Interceptor growing the 500cc+ category by more than 4-times in India, and also becoming the best selling naked motorcycle in the mid-sized category in the UK in 2020. The introduction of Make-It-Yours on the 650 Twin motorcycles in October last year further enhanced the personalization possibilities and overall appeal of these motorcycles. MiY unlocks thousands of personalization options and is becoming a game changer for Royal Enfield. We believe that the newly introduced colourways on the Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650, along with unique personalisation options via MiY will go a long way in bringing more enthusiasts into the brand fold.”

Powertrain Specs

Apart from the new colour schemes, there are no other changes on the best selling twins. Mechanically, specs of the updated Interceptor 650 and Continental GT remain unaltered. 650 twins are powered by a 647cc, twin cylinder air-oil cooled engine with 47 Bhp of peak power and 52 Nm of peak torque. The engine runs four valve heads, a single overhead camshaft and fuel injection. The gearbox is a 6 speed manual unit with a slipper clutch as standard.

The engine is known for its smoothness across the rev range, and has proven to be a reliable performer. Both motorcycles feature disc brakes on both wheels with dual channel ABS as standard. The Royal Enfield twins have been best sellers for the brand not just in India but in markets abroad. More variants around the 650cc engine platform are expected in the years to come.

Make it Yours (MiY) Program

Customers wishing to add accessories to their twins can do so through the Make-It-Yours program. The 650 Twins from Royal Enfield have also received a host of Make it Yours (MiY) options with which customers can choose to personalise their motorcycles. The options with the 2021 Interceptor 650 include two new seats (a standard touring dual seat and touring seat with ribbed styled stitching and cowl finish), engine and sump guards in different finishes, touring mirrors, tall and short tinted flyscreens and fork gaiters. The Continental GT 650 gets options like black-painted screen kit, bar-end mirrors, single-seat cowl in different colours, and engine and sump guards.

According to Royal Enfield, the personalisation and accessorisation options are homologated, with the accessories having a standard warranty of two years.
