The Italian two-wheeler maker, Piaggio expanded its three-wheeler scooter range and has taken the wraps off its updated MP3 urban three-wheeler scooter range. The company has unveiled the MP3 400 HPE. The new Piaggio MP3 400 HPE scooter is a replacement of Piaggio MP3 350 HPE. The MP3 400 HPE is available in two trims – Standard and Sport.

Occupies the middle position between the 300 HPE and 500 HPE models, the new 400 HPE has been developed by increasing the displacement figure of the smaller model. The new model gets a cleaner and a slightly larger motor. In addition to the powerful engine, the MP3 400 HPE meets the stricter Euro 5 emission norms and also gets modern styling, improved practicality, and more features.

Piaggio MP3 400 HPE Powertrain & Specs

The new MP3 400 HPE is powered by a 399 cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled four-stroke engine that churns out 35 bhp at 7,000 rpm and 38 Nm at 5,500 rpm. The motor is paired to CVT automatic gearbox with a torque server. The suspension duties on the three-wheeled scooter are tended to by an electro-hydraulic blocking system with dual rear shock absorbers. The stopping power, on the other hand, comes from two 258 mm front discs with a single 240 mm rear disc brake. The tilting suspension locks up when the scooter is at a standstill, so the rider doesn’t have to put his/her feet down in traffic stops. The scooter also gets an ABS and a traction control system.
