Nissan unveils the high-performance Patrol NISMO SUV
The Japanese carmaker, Nissan has unveiled the 2021 sportier Patrol Nismo. The carmaker has uncovered the all-new Patrol NISMO in a virtual event held at Expo 2020 Dubai. A go-faster version of Nissan’s Land Cruiser rival, the Patrol Nismo is inspired by the GT-R NISMO and the 370Z NISMO. Offering bold styling and additional performance over the standard model, the performance version of Nissan’s flagship SUV gets more power and quite a few styling tweaks and upgrades under the skin. It is priced at Rs 76.73 lakh and will be exclusively available to customers in the Middle East.
Under the hood, the Patrol NISMO gets a 5.6-litre naturally aspirated V8 engine developing 428hp, which is 28hp more than the standard Patrol SUV and 560Nm of torque. Besides it, the Patrol Nismo also gets suspension upgrades that include Bilstein components.
Interior and Exterior
Inside, the Patrol Nismo has been upholstered in black leather and red Alcantara, red contrast stitching, and a black Alcantara steering wheel with a carbon-fibre outer rim. One can enjoy a 13-speaker Bose audio system together with an Apple CarPlay-compatible infotainment system and wireless charging pad, USB A and C ports etc. Thanks to Nissan Intelligent Mobility (NIM) technologies, the carmaker added Intelligent Forward Collision Warning, Intelligent Emergency Braking, Pedestrian Detection, Smart Rear-View Mirror and High-Beam assist in the Patrol NISMO SUV.
To make the Patrol visually fascinating, it features a reworked front which includes a V-shaped grille with a honeycomb mesh design accompanied by C-shaped DRLs and LED headlamps. Available in four colour options black, white, silver and grey, Nismo have fitted a set of Bilstein shock absorbers at each corner. The company claims that the front bumper is designed for better aerodynamics and hence gets side ducts which result in zero lift force. The revised rear section of the car has C-shaped LED taillamps and a sculpted bumper with a rear diffuser, inspired by falcon wings. Nissan has also given a Formula-one racecar-like fog lamp, located in the centre of the diffuser. The SUV gets 22-inch machine-cut alloys. To make the Patrol more visually aggressive, Nissan says the red-trimmed body kit is functional, reducing lift at the front-end, while a rear spoiler aids smoother airflow over the car – all of which is said to improve handling at higher speeds.
Nissan showcased the standard Patrol in India a few years ago but the SUV never went on sale here. The company has no current plans to bring the Patrol Nismo here but it goes on sale in the pan Middle East from April 2021.
