Next-Gen Mahindra Scorpio to Get an AT With Sunroof
Mahindra automaker has officially announced that the upcoming W601 SUV will be named XUV700, which will be launched in the 3rd quarter of 2021. The company will also launch the next-gen Scorpio SUV, codenamed Z101 in the end of the year 2021 or early 2022. The new Mahindra Scorpio model has been caught testing numerous times which reveals the interior of the vehicle.

The model looks significantly larger than the existing model. The new Mahindra Scorpio features an all-new front fascia and a more upright rear end. It gets six-slat vertically-stacked front grille, flanked by conventional headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lights, a larger bumper with massive air-dam, roof rails, extended rear overhangs, sunroof etc. The upcoming SUV retains the side-hinged tailgate. The spotted model comes fitted with large ten-spoke alloy wheels that are shod with MRF Wanderer tyres.
Like the existing Scorpio model, the new-gen model will also get a flat black dashboard with vertical air-con vents. The new SUV comes equipped with a touchscreen infotainment system at the centre with a bunch of buttons below for in-car controls, including the climate control system. The SUV also comes with a large instrument cluster along with a new flat-bottom multi-functional steering wheel same as the one on the upcoming new-gen XUV700. The centre console features a large lever for the emergency brake, and we get a leather-wrapped gear lever as well, which in this case is an automatic unit.
New-Gen Mahindra Scorpio – Engine and Transmission
The new-generation Mahindra Scorpio is likely to be powered by the company’s latest 2.0-litre mStallion turbocharged diesel engine that is capable to produce 150 bhp and up to 320 Nm of peak torque. It will also get a new 2.0-litre mHawk diesel that develops 130 bhp and 320 Nm of peak torque. The transmission options will include a 6-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed torque converter automatic.
It is expected that the new Scorpio model will be sold alongside the existing model. The new generation Mahindra Scorpio will be based on the modified version of the ladder frame chassis, which also underpins the new Thar off-road SUV.
