New Volkswagen Polo GTI Facelift Design Sketch Revealed

German motor vehicle manufacturer recently unveiled the facelifted Polo for the international markets. The carmaker has now officially announced to unveil the new Volkswagen Polo GTI facelift in June 2021. Ahead of the global debut, the company has released the first design sketch of the Polo GTI.

The carmaker states that the new Polo GTI will be slightly sharper-looking than the outgoing model and more importantly, it will be more powerful. The 2021 Volkswagen Polo GTI facelift will stand above the standard Polo, Life, R-Line variants of the new Polo lineup. It will be based on the MQB AO modular platform which underpins the new-generation Polo hatchback. It will sit above 4 m in length and will measure around 4.05 m in length, 1.75 m in width and 1.45 m in height. The wheelbase is expected to be similar to the regular Polo at 2.56 m. It is expected to come with 17-inches new alloy wheels specially designed for it.

The official design sketch of the new Polo model reveals its face will have cues we’ve already seen on the facelifted Polo, including new twin-projector, LED headlights, a modified bumper, a large honeycomb (faux) air intake flanked by twin octagonal LED lights, a thin LED light bar connecting one headlight to the other and the classic red coloured stripe drawn across the base of the headlights and honeycomb mesh grille, right above it

New Volkswagen Polo GTI: Engine and Performance

The pre-facelift version of the Volkswagen Polo GTI was offered with a 2.0L turbocharged petrol engine that produces 197bhp of max power and 320Nm of peak torque. A 6-speed manual gearbox was offered earlier. However, the new Polo model will get the 6-speed DSG automatic. The hatchback is claimed to achieve 0-100 km/h in just 6.7 seconds before hitting a top speed of 237 km/h.

The 2021 VW Polo GTI facelift will continue to be offered with a high-torque front-wheel-drive set up along with a dynamically tuned sports chassis. The 2021 Polo model is expected to offer sporty driving dynamics along with the comfort of everyday driving.
