New Skoda Octavia will launch in India on 10 June 2021
Skoda Auto India has finally confirmed that the fourth-gen Skoda Octavia will launch in India on June 10, 2021. The price along with details of the car’s specifications will be announced on June 10. Market launch for the new Octavia was planned for late April or early May but the plans got canceled due to the Covid-19 crisis. Now, Zac Hollis, Director at Skoda Auto India, has confirmed via a tweet that the 2021 model will be launching on the 10th of June.
Skoda wrote, “The all-new OCTAVIA is a compelling combination, offering timeless design, unmatched safety, intuitive technology, solid performance, superior space, and comfort. Launching on June 10th.”
This model was unveiled globally almost two years ago. For the Indian market, Skoda took the covers off the 2021 Octavia much later. At the beginning of 2021, the first batch of the new Octavia rolled out of its facility in Aurangabad, before the official launch was called off temporarily. Skoda was planning for a late April or early May launch of the car, but the plans got canceled due to the Covid-19 crisis.
Octavia Sedan Features
In terms of interior features, it comes with refreshed appearance with a two-spoke steering wheel with mounted controls for music and other functions. The cabin layout has also been reworked with a new-look dashboard and expected to loaded with features like a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen, three-zone climate control, a premium sound system, five USB-C ports, among others.
The 2021 Skoda Octavia is based on the MQB platform and has a wheelbase of 2,686 mm and the sedan has also grown in size and offers an extra 19 mm length and 15 mm wider body. It sports a sleeker front fascia with a butterfly grille that is wider and also sharper. The front bumper design has been tweaked with wider air dams and a thin chrome strip connecting the horizontal LED fog lamps. It gets sleek-looking LED headlamps which would likely be equipped with Matrix LED tech.
New Skoda Octavia Engine
The new Octavia is expected to come fitted with a 2.0-litre TSI turbocharged petrol engine. A 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox will be offered as standard. The engine will be capable of churning out around 190 hp of power and 320 Nm of torque. Unlike its predecessor, there will be no diesel engine option.
The new Skoda Octavia is likely to be in the range of Rs 18 lakh and Rs 23 lakh (ex-showroom). When launched, the new Octavia will take on rivals like Honda Civic, Hyundai Elantra, and Toyota Corolla Altis.
