New Maruti Vitara Brezza with Sunroof and Other Features Coming Soon
Maruti Suzuki is gearing up for the launch of the new-gen Celerio hatchback. The company is putting efforts into updating Vitara Brezza, Swift, Alto, a mid-sized SUV in collaboration with Toyota and a Baleno-based crossover. India’s largest car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki has been selling the Vitara breeza since early 2016 and it really set a benchmark in the compact SUV segment. The brezza received a mid-life makeover at the 2020 Auto Expo with design updates and the inclusion of new features.
In response to the growing competition, Maruti Suzuki is launching the second generation Vitara Brezza with extensive updates. The next-gen Vitara Brezza will be launched in the second half of 2021, during the festive season, before Diwali. The new-generation Maruti Vitara Brezza is reportedly to be launched in the third quarter of 2021, which is around July-September.
Next-Gen Maruti Vitara Brezza
The new Brezza will be based on Suzuki’s new lightweight HEARTECT platform. For better safety and stability the platform could be modified using high strength steel. There will be no major changes in the dimensions of the car and the company will carry forward the same boxy design language. The HEARTECT platform will allow the carmaker to add more modern electric and electronic architecture. The SUV will be benefitted from more modern features such as connected car tech.
Three of Brezza’s prime competitors – the Hyundai Venue, Ford EcoSport and the Mahindra XUV 300, come loaded with top features. Sunroof – this is one place where the Brezza is lacking behind. The upcoming five-seater Brezza will be equipped with several high-end features, which are missing in the current car. It will receive a factory-fitted sunroof. The car is expected to get a larger touchscreen infotainment system, wireless charging, air purifier, sunroof, 6 airbags, digital instrument cluster and better-connected car technology.
With Maruti Suzuki expanding its S-CNG lineup and sees it as an immediate alternative in offering cleaner vehicles, the next generation Vitara Brezza may also get a CNG variant according to the report. The car could also be offered with the BS6-compliant 1.5L diesel engine. Just as the interior, the exterior will get a thoroughly upgrade as well. For improved safety, it will feature six airbags in the top-end variants.
Maruti Vitara Brezza Engine
At present, the Vitara Brezza is available with a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine that is capable of producing 104bhp of power and 138Nm of torque. A 5-speed manual gearbox driving the power to the front wheels will come as standard. The SUV will also receive a 6-speed automatic gearbox, which will replace the existing 4-speed unit. The automaker is expected to add a larger battery and a more powerful electric motor to achieve higher fuel efficiency.
The SUV will be introduced during the festive season, before Diwali and expected to be Rs 35,000 to Rs 50,000 more expensive than before.
