New Mahindra Thar 4X4 Gets Custom Hardtop With Rooftop Tent
Mahindra automotive manufacturer introduced a new-generation model for the Thar late last year, and thanks to the extensive updates that the company has introduced with the new model, the SUV has gained immense popularity in the market. While Mahindra is offering a host of custom accessories with the Thar 4X4, the aftermarket scene seems to take it a notch higher.
The Mahindra Thar has been a very popular SUV in the Indian market ever since its launch. It was a popular Car among off-road riders but, the new Mahindra Thar is now a lot more comfortable and is good on and off-the-road. Ever since the new-generation SUV has launched in the market, we have seen several modification videos and images on the internet. One of the most common types of modification that is currently seen in the all-new Thar 4X4 is aftermarket front grille and customized interiors.
The modifications on this SUV have been done by Bimba 4×4. The snorkel gets a Line-X coating and options for both working and dummy snorkels are available with Bimbra. The Gurgaon-based tuning house has developed a tailor-made hardtop for the new generation SUV, which has a load-carrying capacity of 250 kilograms. The tailor-made roof comes with mounting points for roof racks, while Bimbra 4×4 has fitted a rooftop tent on this particular example of the Thar. The custom hardtop is priced at Rs. 74990, while the rooftop tent will set you back by Rs. 89990. On the other hand, the sliding channels for the 2nd-row seats priced between Rs. 9990 to Rs. 12990. The snorkel is priced between Rs. 10490 to Rs. 12990, depending upon the functionality since a dummy unit is also available.
Apart from that, Mahindra is also offering a range of adventure accessories which include electric winch, X-Trax, hi-lift jack, inflatable jack, tailgate-mounted snack tray, air compressor, puncture repair kit, and so on. The carmaker is also offering an inflatable be for rear seats and backpacker tent as well.
Powertrain – Engine and Transmission
The Mahindra Thar is available in 2 engine options – a 2.0-litre mStallion TGDi turbocharged petrol engine that generates 150 PS power and 300 Nm torque (320 Nm with AT), and a 2.2-litre mHawk turbo diesel engine rated at 130 PS/300 Nm. Both the engines can be had with either a 6-speed Manual Transmission or an optional 6-speed Automatic Transmission.
Talking of the prices, Mahindra retails the Thar at a base price of Rs 12.10 lakh, which goes up to Rs 14.15 lakh (both prices, ex-showroom) for the top-end trim. While the Thar has no direct rival in the country, it does face competition from same-priced Sport Utility Vehicles like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos etc.
