MG6 XPower Plug-in Hybrid Sportscar Revealed Globally
The British automaker, MG Motor has revealed the first production car under its XPower sports brand that was last seen on the XPower SV sports car which was manufactured from 2003 to 2005. The sportscar is based on the 2nd generation of the MG6 compact sedan. In a typical sports car style, the MG6 XPower features a sporty, aggressive ultra-wide body design along with an aero kit. The stance is lowered and the rear sees a carbon fibre spoiler along with pneumatic diffusers.
The inside although looks similar to the standard car has been generously draped in Alcantara and features green coloured contrast stitching with grey highlights. The car gets a 3-spoke multifunction steering wheel covered with ALCANTARA leather and a digital instrument cluster. Right in the centre of the dashboard is a large touchscreen infotainment system. It even has road-friendly, race-inspired seats with many XPower logos in various parts of the vehicle.
With eye-catching and unique sport exterior design elements, the MG6 XPower sports car has an overpowering appearance with an ultra-wide body style and an aerodynamic body kit. Its sleek character lines and lower posture are perfectly complemented by a carbon fibre rear spoiler. The taillight of the sports car adopts the exclusive “X” shape, which is highly recognizable while the double pneumatic diffusers further enhance the sportiness.
In terms of the braking hardware, the MG6 XPower sports car is equipped with the imported racing-grade 920E 6-piston fixed callipers brakes, specially designed for the XPOWER family, which perfectly matches the performance of the chassis and further increases the braking force. The newly designed floating brake disc is matched with the newly upgraded front and rear calliper brake system to achieve a high-efficiency and highprecision braking effect, achieving the performance at 33 meters from 100 kmph to 0
MG6 XPower draws power from a 1.5-litre Trophy in-cylinder direct-injection turbocharged engine. It is supplemented by a high-power permanent magnet synchronous motor. The max power available is 305hp while the electric motor helps push max torque output to 480Nm. The carmaker claims the MG6 XPower can accelerate from 0-100kmph in only six seconds. The car comes loaded with a 10-speed EDU sec-gen intelligent electric drive gearbox, allowing the motor and the engine power to be seamlessly connected with faster shift response, higher transmission efficiency, and a significant improvement in driving performance.
The British carmaker has not mentioned when the MG6 XPower will go into production and if it will arrive in the Indian market. However, we expect the new model to go official sometime in 2022.
