Made-In-India Jeep Wrangler launched

On March 17 2021, Jeep India has finally launched the locally assembled Jeep Wrangler in the country. The iconic off-roader comes to India as a semi-knocked down (SKD) unit instead of a completely built unit (CBU). The local subsidiary, Jeep India, commenced production of the Wrangler SUV in February at its Ranjangaon manufacturing facility near Pune in Maharashtra. The carmaker also started accepting pre-bookings for the Jeep. Earlier, the launch was expected to take place on March 15, however, it was delayed.

The locally-made Jeep Wrangler is available in two variants in India- Unlimited and Rubicon. The Unlimited variant is priced at Rs 53.90 lacs (ex-showroom) and the Rubicon variant is priced at Rs 57.9 lacs (ex-showroom).

Partha Datta, managing director of Jeep India, said, “Indian customers have always desired the legendary Jeep Wrangler, and I am pleased that today we are able to bring this to them, assembled in India. We have extended our points of sale and service for the locally-assembled Wrangler to 26 across the country. I’m also happy to announce that we have introduced a MOPAR-original suite of over 120 Wrangler accessories and value packs which customers can order at our dealerships.”

Under the hood, the 2021 Jeep Wrangler gets the 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine. This powertrain produces 268 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque and comes with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The system blends performance-enhancing and fuel-saving technologies to optimize powertrain effectiveness and efficiency.

Both the trims come equipped with Premium LED headlamps, 4-Wheel Disc Brakes, Heavy Duty Suspension with Gas Shocks, Automatic headlamps, Front LED Fog Lamps, LED Tail Lamps, Rear Fog Lamps, LED DRL, Windshield Wipers, Full-Framed Removable Doors, Leather-Trimmed Seats, Leather Wrapped Steering Wheel and Shift Knob, 60/40 Split-Folding Rear Seat, 7-inch full-color Driver Information Display, Uconnect 8.4” with Navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Steering Wheel Mounted Audio Controls Integrated Voice Command, Dual-Zone Automatic Temperature Control, Push – Button Start, Keyless Entry, Rear View Auto Diming Mirror, Storage Tray, Power Windows, One Touch Front and more.

For safety, the Wrangler comes equipped with various safety and security features, including Electronic Stability Control (ESC)10 and Trailer Sway Control (TSC)10, Hill Start Assist, Electronic Roll Mitigation, Hill Descend Control, Driver and Front Passenger Airbags, Supplemental Front Seat-Mounted Side Airbags, Tire Pressure Monitoring Display, Sentry Key Antitheft Engine Immobilizer, Parksense Rear Park Assist System, ParkView Rear Back-up Camera and Headlamp Off Time Delay. The Jeep will be available in five colours – Black, Firecracker Red, Granite Crystal, Sting Grey and Bright White.
