Jeep Compass SUV 7 Seater Could Be Named Commander
Jeep has released the first official teaser of its upcoming SUV – Which is based on the Compass and is currently code-named H6. The model’s name hasn’t been confirmed but a new teaser leaves some strong suspicions about what it could be: Commander. It will be made in Brazil and India, at their plant near Pune (Maharashtra). This new model will be longer and bigger than the Compass and will sit over the Compass in the jeep’s line-up. Currently codenamed H6, the premium sport utility vehicle has been spied on test in Brazil as well as Italy in the past few months.
New Teaser Video Shows the Letter “ER” at the End
Talking about its name possibly being Commander, the official teaser clearly shows “ER” at the end, revealing the last two letters of its name. Also, taking a very close look will reveal the shadow of another letter, which is almost certainly a D. It should be noted that the Commander name was previously used by the company for a Grand-Cherokee-based 3-row SUV back in the mid-to-late 2000s.
The upcoming SUV will be the third of four models that Jeep has planned for the Indian market, following the facelifted Jeep Compass and the locally-assembled Jeep Wrangler. The official teaser video also confirms a new look to the grille with slimmer slats reminiscent of the new Grand Wagoneer and Grand Cherokee and a redesigned set of LED headlamps.
The interior of the upcoming 7 Seater SUV is also expected to come packed with new features and equipment. It will carry forward most of the features from the 2021 Compass, along with a few additional features as well. However, the biggest change in the cabin section will be the inclusion of an new row of seats.
