Jaguar Land Rover has finally launched its much-awaited first electric car, the I-Pace in India. The Jaguar I-Pace is the maiden BEV (battery electric vehicle) to be introduced in India by Jaguar Land Rover. The Jaguar I-Pace is available in three trim levels in India – S, SE, and HSE. In three variants, S, SE, and HSE, the electric performance SUVs are priced at INR 1.06 crore, INR 1.08 crore and INR 1.12 crore, respectively.

“Jaguar I-PACE is the first all-electric SUV that we’ve launched in India and it marks the beginning of our electrification journey. With our electrified products, we look forward to playing a significant role in India’s electrification drive into the future. Jaguar I-PACE will appeal to people who look for and purchase the latest in technology and design, to express their personalities and stay ahead of the curve,” said Rohit Suri, president and managing director at Jaguar Land Rover India Ltd (JLRIL) in a statement.

Here’s a look at the first car in Jaguar’s electric journey.

Electric Performance

The I-PACE powertrain provides 294 kW and 696 Nm of usable instant torque. With built-in All Wheel Drive traction, I-PACE accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 4.8 seconds. The Jaguar I-Pace gets two permanent magnet synchronous electric motors on the front and rear axles. The vehicle is fitted with a 90 kWh lithium-ion battery and the battery comes with eight years or 160,000 km warranty. A 7.4 kW AC wall-mounted charger will be provided in addition to the standard 8 years or 160000 km battery warranty.

I-PACE delivers all-surface, all-weather drivability. Power and torque response is immediate and the electric motors can adapt independently to the driver’s inputs, road surface conditions and available grip. I-PACE’s highly efficient heat pump harvests heat from the outside air and electronic components of the vehicle. The warmth is transferred to the cabin via the heating and ventilation system, reducing the power demand from the battery while maximising range.

Jaguar I-Pace – Interior Design

On the inside, the design is very similar to other Jaguar cars. It looks very premium and quite sporty as well. The first all-electric performance SUV, I-Pace offers a refined, quiet drive. To maintain the calm interior, the vehicle features acoustic laminated glass on the front windows and windscreen, reducing noise entering the cabin from outside.
