Hyundai Motor Co. debuts Staria MPV with futuristic looks and packed with luxury

Hyundai has revealed the Staria premium multi-purpose vehicles, a potential Kia Carnival rival. The South Korean carmaker has already previewed the premium MPV’s exterior and interior ahead of its global debut. Now, the carmaker has revealed its engine and dimension details. The Staria is quite large, measuring 5253 mm in length, 1997 mm in width and has a wheelbase of 3273 mm. While the height of the passenger model stands at 1990 mm, its commercial version is 2000 mm tall.

The Carnival is 5115 mm long, 1985 mm wide, 1740 to 1755 mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 3060 mm. Like the Carnival, the new Staria offers multiple seating configurations to choose from right from 2-seats to 11-seats layout. The 2 and 3 seating arrangement has been designed especially for business purposes. It offers a massive cargo space of 5000 litres. Meanwhile, the 7-seater variant is the most opulent one on offer. Its rear seats adjust automatically based on your body weight for the perfect seating position.

Upcoming Hyundai Staria – Engine and Transmission

The Europe-spec Staria will come with a 2.2L, 4-cylinder diesel engine producing power worth 172 bhp and 431 Nm of max torque. The upcoming Hyundai MPV can be had with either a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic gearbox. In other markets, the new Hyundai MPV is likely to be offered with 3.5 L naturally aspirated petrol engine that will deliver power close to 265 bhp and 331 Nm of max torque. Hyundai might also introduce a fuel-cell version of the MPV.

The upcoming MPV will come in a choice of eight exterior colour schemes and five interior themes with dual-tone finishes. The model is slated to launch in the European market towards the end of this year. As of now, the South Korean carmaker has no plan to bring in the Hyundai Staria in the Indian market.

The Hyundai Staria will come with safety features, including six airbags, Anti-Lock Braking System with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, parking sensors, electronic stability control, forward collision avoidance assist, and blind spot collision avoidance assist. Small touches such as the wireless seat belt reminder module and the rear occupant alert also make life so much easier. The latter basically alerts the driver if any of the rear occupants haven’t exited the vehicle.
