Hyundai Alcazar 7-seater SUV launch scheduled for April 2021

South Korean carmaker, Hyundai Motor is all set to take the covers off its new 7-seater SUV for the Indian market soon. Recently, the Hyundai had unveiled the 7-seater SUV’s name and announced that the SUV will be called by the name Alcazar and will be ‘Made in India’ and ‘Made First for India’. Based on the enormously popular Creta, the upcoming Alcazar will reportedly make its global debut next month. The automaker is yet to share the exact launch date. The pre-bookings of the Creta-inspired SUV, Hyundai Alcazar is expected to start by mid-April.

As of now, not many details about the upcoming vehicle looks, features or technical specifications have been revealed. The Alcazar will essentially be based on the mid-size SUV, Creta, and the Alcazar will feature high mounted LED DRLs and split front headlamps as one would find on a Creta SUV. It is expected that the Alcazar will be equipped with an Apple CarPlay and Android Auto-ready touchscreen infotainment system, multi-zone automatic climate control, wireless charger, ventilated seats and panoramic sunroof, etc.

The Hyundai Alcazar will reportedly have the same engine and transmission options that we find in the Hyundai Creta. The largest-selling mid-size SUV in India gets three powertrain options – 1.4-litre Kappa Turbo-GDi petrol (140PS and 242Nm) with a 7-speed DCT automatic, 1.5-litre MPi petrol (115PS and 144Nm) with 6-speed MT/IVT automatic and 1.5-litre U2 CRDi diesel (115PS and 250Nm) with 6-speed MT/6-speed AT.

The name Alcazar, derived from Arabic al-qasr or Latin word Castrum, which stands for Castles and Palaces, denoting grandeur, spaciousness and solidity. While promoting the vehicle, Hyundai had stressed words like ‘grand life’ and ‘power’, showcased a castle and seems that SUV offers ample space inside the car. It is expected to get a price tag between Rs.14 lakh to Rs. 20 lakh (ex-showroom).
