BMW rolls out 8th-gen iDrive connected tech
Bayerische Motoren Werke AG, commonly known as BMW recently launched the brand new iDrive operating system. The brand new technology iDrive is expected to be more intuitive, personal and inspiring, but also engaging on an emotional level. It includes next-gen displays, controls and software, and intensely highly effective connectivity and data processing.
It is developed with a clear focus on dialogue-based interaction utilizing natural language and touches operation via the BMW Curved Display. German multinational corporation which produces luxury vehicles and motorcycles, BMW has showcased technology innovation by presenting brand-new My Modes, developed to stimulate multiple senses, from sight to hearing to touch. Voice control and the touch function of the BMW Curved Display were prioritised as usage options in the development of the new BMW iDrive. The number of buttons and switches has been reduced by almost half. At the same time, control clusters for relevant and frequently used basic functions are retained.
Prospects may even personalize the system using BMW ID. The digital companies for navigation, parking and charging are absolutely built-in into the cloud-based BMW Maps system in a user-friendly way. The intelligent functions of BMW Maps are also being expanded further. The BMW Group has been developing the central management unit and software program integration platform entirely on Linux and in-house since 2013.
