Bajaj Chetak Electric Vehicle bookings stopped within 48 hours due to high demand. Bajaj Auto had resumed Chetak EVs bookings on April 13 but decided to suspend it once again within 48 hours due to heavy demand.
Bajaj Auto has announced that it has stopped accepting orders for the Chetak electric scooter due to heavy demand for the two-wheeler. The company re-opened bookings for the electric scooter on Tuesday morning and decided to suspend the bookings once again due to a large number of confirmed orders. The company announced that it will review the supply situation and will announce details on the next round of booking opportunities in the future.
Bajaj Chetak Electric Scooter Prices Increased
The Bajaj Chetak is available in two variants: Urbane and Premium. The scooter was first launched by the company with a price tag of Rs 1.0 lakh (Urbane) and Rs 1.15 lakh (Premium). The electric scooter then received a price hike in the month of March 2021. The Urbane variant prices were increased by Rs 15000 and the Premium variant increased by Rs 5000. According to our sources, Bajaj Auto has yet again increased the prices of the Chetak Electric Vehicle. After the latest price hike, the Urbane variant now costs Rs 1.42 lakh. While the Premium costs Rs 1.44 lakh. All prices mentioned are ex-showroom (Bangalore, Karnataka). This makes the electric vehicle variants Rs 27,000 and Rs 24,000 more expensive, respectively.
Powertrain – Engine and Transmission
The Bajaj Chetak Electric Scooter is powered by a 4.1 kW electric motor paired with an automatic transmission, and it is capable of producing 16 Nm of torque. The IP67-certified battery pack promises a riding range of 95+ km/ charge in Eco mode and 85+ km/ charge in sport mode. The battery can be charged to 25% capacity in an hour and 100% in five hours.
The company’s official said once the company resolved the supply-chain issues, it would re-open bookings as well introduce the product in more cities within the next quarter. Since its launch, Bajaj only had the Chetak on sale in Pune and Bengaluru. Interested customers can register themselves on the official website of the company and stay notified about their future sales plans. Bajaj Auto has not revealed any info about when they are likely to resume sales.
