Bajaj Auto Trademarks The Names Fluor and Fluir In India
Bajaj Auto Limited recently registered the names of Bajaj Fluor and Bajaj Fluir in India. According to the list on the Ministry of Commerce and Industry’s Patent Design Trademarks website, the company registered both names as trademarks in February 2021 and was approved in March 2021. As of now, we have no confirmation from the manufacturer’s end, it seems like the registered names could be used for Bajaj Auto’s future potential electric offerings.
Upcoming Electric Bike or Something Else?
Interestingly, the name Fluor means fluorescence, while in Spanish the word Fluir means flowing. And we believe these could be the names of Bajaj’s future electric motorcycles. Currently, the broader description on the Patent Design & Trademarks website refers to “electric vehicles.” We can expect the brand to consider names for either a new electric motorcycle, a new ICE motorcycle, or a new service.
Among other parts and components, the document also mentions Two Wheelers, Motorcycles, Scooters, Three Wheelers, and Four Wheelers. However, we would speculate that the possibility of the names being used for an electric scooter or a motorcycle is much higher.
Bajaj Auto will initially look at streamlining the supply chain of the Chetak electric that has been disrupted ever since COVID-19 struck last year. This also resulted in its prices hiking massively over the last two months. Furthermore, Bajaj might focus on expanding Chetak’s dealership reach first before introducing another product under the same banner. It is only available in Pune and Bengaluru as of now, but the company is planning to extend its availability to twenty-four other cities across India by 2022.
