2022 Nissan GT-R Nismo Special Edition Unveiled in Japan

Nissan revealed the newest iteration of the Nissan GT-R NISMO, the company’s flagship GT-R representing continuous evolution toward ultimate driving pleasure. The Nissan GT-R NISMO, along with Nismo special edition version, are planned to launch in Japan in October.

2022 Nissan GT-R: what’s New?

The MY2022 GT-R Nismo will get a unique stealth Gray body shade. Toyota says this new shade is inspired by the colour of the tarmac on various tracks where the GT-R Nismo currently holds lap records. The 2022 GT-R Nismo will also get a unique new design for the 20-inch rays aluminum forged wheels and a carbon-fiber bonnet that sheds 100 gms of the standard car. The only other cosmetic tweak is the 2022 Nissan logo that made its debut on the recently unveiled Nissan Ariya.

Like the current version, the 2022 GT-R will be powered by the venerable VR38DETT 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 with GT3-racecar-supplied turbochargers that is rated to put out 600bhp of max power. While the rated output hasn’t changed, the special edition gets tweaked engine internals. The car manufacturer says that the Nismo special edition gets “new high-precision, weight-balanced parts including the piston rings, connecting rods, crankshaft, flywheel, crank pulley and valve springs dialed in with tighter tolerances, delivering snappier revs and quicker turbo spooling.”

The braking system, though, is retained from the current Nissan GT-R NISMO, with 410 mm discs up front and 390 mm units at the rear.

In collaboration with McDonald’s in Japan, a miniature toy car Nissan GT-R NISMO will be available in the “Tomica Happy Set”, a popular McDonald’s meal set for children. The Happy Set will be on sale for a limited time period in Japan, starting on April 30.

Nissan for India

Coming to India, Nissan launched the standard R35 GT-R back in Dec 2016, with the model powered by a 570 hp iteration of the above-mentioned 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6. The company currently has only two models on sale in the Indian market in the form of the Kicks SUV and the all-new Magnite, with the latter having proven to be quite popular among compact SUV buyers.
