2022 Kia Sportage SUV Teased Ahead of its Global Debut
The South Korean automobile manufacturer, Kia has released the first official teaser pictures for the upcoming 2022 Sportage SUV. The vehicle is scheduled to be officially unveiled in July this year, in the car maker’s home market of South Korea. The 5th gen Kia Sportage will feature plenty of updates to the design, both on the exterior and interior.
The fifth-generation Kia Sportage is based on Carmaker’s new design philosophy – Opposites United. The new design philosophy gives the car a unique character, with both simplicity as well as aggression, as can be seen in these teaser pictures. The all-new SUV also follows the manufacturer’s recent rebrand, to establish itself as a sustainable mobility provider.
2022 Kia Sportage SUV: Exterior
The 2022 Kia Sportage has an extremely muscular stance, with detailed creases and lines flowing across the surface. At the front, we see a uniquely designed headlamp, which looks sharp and sleek, along with a 3D-style massive black tiger-nose front grill and the new Kia’s logo in the middle. The side profile also appears impressive, with a strong and well-defined silhouette. The rear section of the fifth-generation Kia Sportage also appears extremely muscular, with a pair of unique-looking LED taillights and a sloping rear windscreen. The carmaker claims that most of the design elements of the upcoming SUV have been inspired by Kia’s new flagship electric SUV- EV6.
2022 Kia Sportage SUV: Interior
The interior of the upcoming SUV is also extremely eye-catchy, with the highlight being the new curved dual-screen dashboard; the infotainment touchscreen display and the digital instrument cluster sit in a single housing, with a wide screen display. The co-driver side of the dashboard has unique styling as well, with a fin-shaped AC vent near the centre.
Speaking on the upcoming fifth-generation SUV, Karim Habib, Senior Vice President and Head of Global Design Center said; “With the all-new Kia Sportage SUV, we were fully focused on challenging ourselves and pushing our fifth-gen SUV to a new level”. He also says; “Taking inspiration from an ethos we created where nature meets tech, the all-new Sportage challenges the norm with an adventurous and contemporary exterior and a carefully conceived, beautifully detailed interior.”
We expect the fifth-generation SUV to make its way to our market as well, likely in the near future. Kia India had previously stated that it would solely focus on Sports Utility Vehicles and Multi-Purpose Vehicles in India, and we expect the carmaker to expand its SUV lineup with more premium offerings in the Indian market, such as the Sportage.
