2021 Yamaha Nmax 125 Maxi Scooter Launched with a Host of Updates

Japanese multinational corporation, Yamaha bikemaker has finally introduced the new Nmax 125 Maxi Scooter in its home market. The two-wheeler shall be manufactured in Indonesia and exported to Japan where it will go on sale from 28th June 2021. The 2021 Nmax Maxi-Scooter features plenty of updates over the previous model. The Maxi-Scooter gets a revised 124cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder blue core engine, which complies with Euro 5 emission norms now.

2021 Yamaha Nmax 125 Maxi Scooter: Powertrain

The powertrain is capable of generating a max power of 11.8 bhp, the same as before. However, the peak torque is rated at 11 Nm, which is a drop of 1 Nm compared to the previous year’s model. It also gets Yamaha’s VVA (Variable Valve Actuation) technology, which improves power delivery per revolution, along with a start-stop system for improving fuel efficiency.

Sporty New Body Design

The 2021 NMax offers a sporty new body design, with twin-eye style LED headlight, LED Daytime Running Lights, and an LED taillight. The Maxi-Scooter has a bulky but aerodynamic design, and it gets stepped with a single-piece seat with a pillion grab rail. The fuel tank has been repositioned for better balance, and it is now larger by 4.4 litres, capable of holding a maximum of 11 litres of fuel.

The 2021 Maxi Scooter sports 13-inch blacked-out alloy wheels on both front and rear ends, with single disc brakes on both wheels. The front suspension duties are handled by a pair of telescopic forks, along with a twin mono-shock absorber on the rear wheel. The maxi scooter also gets switchable traction control to keep things safe especially for new riders.

The 2021 NMax is equipped with a fully digital LCD instrument cluster, which offers Bluetooth connectivity for smartphones. Using the Yamaha MyRide app, riders can see the status report, battery condition, fuel status, fuel consumption figures, last parked, etc., on their smartphones.

The 2021 NMax 125 Maxi Scooter has a starting price of around JPY 368000 (equivalent INR 2.46 lakh) in the Japanese market. We do not expect the Nmax 125 to launch in our country any time soon, primarily due to its high expected cost. Currently, the bikemaker has two scooters on sale in the Indian market – Fascino 125 and RayZR 125.
